3 Ways to Leverage Social Media Links

Prospecting is not always easy, but it’s always worth it.  Having access to more information about your prospects is only as valuable as you are equipped to use it.  Without properly understanding how to use the marketing tools you have access to, too much information can hinder instead of help your marketing efforts.  To make the most out of your prospecting efforts, it’s a good idea to do your homework; with social media links it’s easy!

3 Ways to Leverage Social Media Links:

  1. Learn more about your prospect before you call/email them.  A quick 10-20 second skim of their social media profile will give you a pretty good idea what makes that person tick and how you might be able to approach them.  Potential clients always value a vendor having knowledge about their business.  Take that a step further by understanding not just the company you’re calling, but the person to whom you’re speaking.
  2. Check to make sure your prospect has not changed jobs before you call. Calling or emailing prospects who have left the company is a waste of time.  A quick glance makes a difference.
  3. Incorporate social links into your email campaigns.  i.e. “I was reviewing your profile at http://www.domain.com/profile-xyz and thought you might be interested in …” Demonstrating knowledge to a potential client can help instill faith in you and your product, making them more likely to want to work with you.

Social media is a monumental part of most people’s lives, both personally and professionally. Understanding how to use this information in your marketing efforts can help take your prospecting to the next level.
